Crohns and Colitis UK NACC logoThe Sainsbury Singers’ chairman Brian Bretney has issued a statement at the end of the musical theatre society’s celebration of its three-quarters of a century performing in and around the Reading, Berkshire area.

“Well we have now completed the incredibly successful 75th Anniversary year for our society,” Brian states. “Many varied events throughout the year provided great entertainment and opportunities for publicity, socialising, exercise, singing and dancing – we even got the mayor of Reading dancing!

“I have great pleasure in confirming that together we have raised a total £1,019.95 for our chosen charity, National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (NACC). We also have a net income for the society from the 75th anniversary events of around £400 (the 75th Anniversary Brochures are still for sale – please use our contact form to enquire about copies).

“Many people have been involved in organising and contributing to the events throughout the year but I would like to thank three people who have been responsible for the majority of the events: Michael Schult, Emma Reeves and Cath Hannan – thank you.

“Thank you too to all who of you who attended the events and made them such a success.

“We can now look forward to an equally successful 2014 with two great shows and several social events being planned. Hopefully see many of you at the some or all of these events.”

The Sainsbury Singers’ next show is Carousel, at The Hexagon from 14-17 May 2014.
